Disciplship

These pages are designed for use to aid discipleship among Christians through individual Bible study, Cell groups, Home groups, or for meeting one to one.  If you wish, you could use the questions, while leaving the group to choose their own translation of the Bible.

Let the Bible Speak for itself!

There are many people out there who tell us what we ought to believe.  How about going to the source?  How about going to God and His Word to find out what He says?  These pages will take you to the key Bible passages on various subjects so you can do your own investigation and come to a much richer understanding of the things that people are teaching you about.

Discipleship

Do you want to grow with Jesus?  Do you want to move on from being fed by other people which while very motivational, and even good, remain their understanding not really yours?  Then these pages are for you!

There is no substitute for digging into the Bible for yourself.  However good the worship of your church, however motivated and spiritual the people around you, these will never be enough for the challenges that life will throw at you.  Jesus was very clear that the one who would stand was not the person who had merely heard His word, but the one who heard it understood it and put it into practice.

Paul wrote “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.  Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize. (1 Cor 9:24-27 NIV).  The question comes back to us - Am I running with God as one who runs to get the prize?  Do I put the effort in for the eternal reward that Jesus will give to those who have given themselves completely to Him?

It may be that some things will not be completely understood.  It may be that there are questions that are beyond you.  That is fine!  The most important thing is not that you have arrived but that you are grappling with God, praying over His word, and above all seeking to put it into practice.  You will find that as you take God seriously by going through this material and seeking to live it out, the Lord will be with you in ways you could never have imagined.  If you persist, then when you look back at life you will find that there is a whole new dynamic where God has brought you forwards into a far greater understanding and depth of character.

The most amazing thing that will happen is that the Lord will begin to use you in the lives of others.  The grace which you receive will overflow into the lives of others and people will be encouraged to follow God in the same way as you have.  Then you will have begun to make disciples.

Treasure Map!!

The Lord has given us our own personal treasure map - the Bible.  He has given us our own personal guide, the Spirit.  As we learn to take seriously His word and the leading of His Spirit, we will find we are on an incredible adventure through life.  There are times when life is sweeter that the most wonderful chocolate cake, there are times when we are at the highest mountain, there are times when life is bitter, there are times when we feel that we are lost.  Through all these various times we explore with someone who has been through it and knows how to take us through.

It is a great adventure, let me encourage you to go with God.
